Bill “Jokester” Robinett is one of the longest standing members of the GMD instructor team. Bill met the Merritt’s through a friend at work and his fate was sealed. Bill began his advanced certification with Bill Merritt in August of 2000 and was an instructor in May 2001, yes that means a lot of time in the water. Bill has been teaching for GMD ever since. He now holds a PADI Master Scuba Diver Training rating.
Bill is a gradutate of Auburn University and has two teenage kids (both of which he certified as soon as they were able). Bill has led trips for GMD to Belize and Roatan, as well as the gulf rigs, and has also travelled to many other Carribean destinations. When his children move out (and yes that is in site) he hopes to be able to dive around the world including the Red Sea, Great Barrier Reef and especially Palau (so look for those trips in the future). Bill loves to travel.
Bill enjoys teaching because it allows him to share his love of diving. His favorite class to teach is Rescue Diver because he feels it is the most important class in diving and he believes it is the key to life long diving adventures. Even though he earns his living as a Manager for an independent insurance agency, diving is his passion and he is looking forward to the day that diving is all he has to do.
