Prerequisites

Instructor Candidates MUST meet the following requirements prior to enrolling in an Instructor Development Course:

• Be 18 or older
• Submit a medical statement signed by a physician that states you are fit for diving
• Be certified for 6 months
• Have 60 logged dives with experience in navigation, deep and night diving
• Be certified in first aid and CPR within the last 2 years.
• Be a PADI certified Divemaster or equivalent
• EFR Instructor – previously certified or become certified during your IDC as add on.

Classroom, Confined and Open Water Sessions

The duration of the course will be seven days. During this time Instructor Candidates will work in the classroom, the pool, and in open water.  Generally, each day will consist of a classroom session and confined or open water session. Instructor candidates should be prepared each day for both.

Planning/Consultation

Prior to, or upon enrolling in the Instructor Development Course (or the Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor Course), Instructor candidates should coordinate and attend a consultation session with our Course Director.  This consultation session will assist you in your planning and preparation for the course.

• PADI Instructor Crew Pak
• Current Versions of all Student Materials (OW, AOW, Rescue, DiveMaster, Specialties, etc.)
• Your Log Book filled out with your diving history
• Recreational Dive Planner (table AND eRDP ML)
