Juan Marcos was born in the South… VERY, VERY far South… in Argentina. There, he took his first breath underwater using SCUBA, and received his first recreational diver certification. But it was only in 2014 that he dusted off his mask and fins, signed up for an Open Water Diver certification course at Gigglin’ Marlin Dive & Swim and began to dive in earnest.

Eventually, he decided to share his passion for diving with others and became a PADI Divemaster, and continues to work on his skills as a diver through continuing education in more technical disciplines, as well as frequent trips to explore new underwater playgrounds. But, nothing gives him more satisfaction than seeing the faces of absolute elation when his Discover Scuba Diving students experience for the first time the sensation of breathing underwater, and the seemingly weightless feeling of neutral buoyancy.

So far, he has explored many dive locations in Argentina, Cozumel, cenotes in Akumal / Tulum (his absolute favorite!), the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of Florida, the Channel Islands in California, and Houston’s very own backyard in the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. His bucket list, however, is many pages long, and he is always planning his next adventure underwater.

Juan Marcos is a practicing attorney, and when he is not working, or diving, or planning a dive, or assisting with students learning to dive, you can find him sailing his boat ‘Paloma’ in Galveston Bay.
